Zero Waste Initiatives in Silsden
The Zero Waste group is built around a simple idea — most things that get thrown away don’t need to be. Through repair cafés, swap events and practical workshops, we help people in Silsden get more out of what they already own, and waste less in the process.
What we focus on
- Running a monthly repair café where volunteers fix clothes, electricals, bikes and more
- Organising swap events for clothes, books, plants and household items
- Workshops on mending, preserving, composting and reducing food waste
- Encouraging local businesses to reduce packaging and single-use plastics

This month we will also be hosting a Clothes Swap. In the UK, an estimated £140 million worth of wearable clothing goes to landfill each year, and less than 1% of clothing is recycled into new clothes, so please bring along your unwanted clothes and go home with a bag full of preloved items. £1 donation
