Climate Action Silsden are excited abut the prospect of a new woodland being created on our doorstep. The Woodland Trust (WT) have purchased land up at Hayhills, close to the reservoir, and plan to plant almost 40,000 mixed native species trees up there this spring (2025) . Although the planting will lead to some commercial harvesting in many years time it is also planned that the wood will become a haven for wildlife and source of recreation for the community

Keighley based YorGreenCIC will be managing the planting, some of which will be done by corporate groups and volunteers from far afield, but the WT are also keen that the local community be involved, both in the planting and in future management. To this end they will be having community tree planting seesions on:

  • Saturday 15th February 10am-3pm
  • Sunday23rd February 10am-3pm
  • Sunday 9th March 10am-3pm

This is a an opportunity to get out in the countryside and be involved in a new project which will enhance the local enviroment and benefit the community for many years to come. To find out more and to book a place on the planting sessions go to the WT website .

We’ll see you up there!
