Here is a list of local conservation organisations working in the Silsden area.

Aire Rivers Trust. Has weekly volunteer work parties working to improve the river environment in the Aire valley. This might include hedge laying, coppicing, river bank reinforcement, balsam bashing, developing wildlife meadows. They also have an active citizen science arm.

River Worth Friends. Works to enhance the River Worth and it’s tributaries for both people and wildlife. They have weekly volunteer work parties working along the river, often removing litter and fly tipping.

Woodland Trust. A national conservation charity working to create and maintain broad leaf woodland. They have recently acquired Hayhills Farm in Silsden and will be planting a 40,000 tree wood there, Silsden people will be encouraged to get involved.

YourGreenCIC. A community interest company based in Keighley that undertakes conservation work in various environments with much volunteer input. They have been contracted by the Woodland Trust to plant the 40,000 trees at Hayhills Farm.

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. Have reserves throughout Yorkshire which requires volunteer work to maintain. There are regular work parties at the Low Wood reserve along the canal between Silsden and Riddlesden.

Bradford Ornithological Group. As the name implies mainly a birding group but they have a reserve at Stockbridge, Keighley where there are regular work parties to maintain the varied habitat.

Riddlesden Toad Patrol. Thousands of toads around Riddlesden owe their liver to RTP! They patrol the roads during toad spawning migration time, March and April, to ensure they are not hit by cars.
