The huge expansion of Silsden has made it even more important that the woefully inadequate and dangerous route for cyclists and pedestrians getting to the train station is made safe and pleasant to use. We are working with our Bradford Ward Councillors to ensure that this requirement is fully taken into account with the implementation of the new A629 bridge.
Our understanding is that the design and funding for this long awaited bridge includes all the works between Steeton and Silsden required to provide this safe route. This will presumably involve negotiations with third party landowners so it is to an extent understandable that the final detail is not yet public.. However this has been so long in the making that we really need to see some evidence of progress. It would also add greatly to public safety to form a safe pedestrian crossing point at Aldi. Supermarket.
January 2025. There has been some progress on this project. The West Yorkshire Combined Authority has announced some engagement events where people can get more detail about the bridge and access and also express their views about it. They are on:
- Saturday 1st February 10am to 2pm at The Hive, Silsden
- Wednesday 5th February 10am to 2pm at The Hub, St+
Dates for online sessions await confirmation. For further information go to the West Yorkshire Combined Authority website
